Hi, I'm Merlette, but to your pets, I'm their Pet Auntie.
I’m called Pet Auntie because I care for other people’s pets the same way I care for my own, with love, patience, protection, and genuine affection. Just like my Pugs, Mango and Olive, every pet I welcome into my care is treated like my own.
For over 30 years, I’ve cared for both people and pets with the same compassion, dedication, and attention to detail. As a dental professional by trade, I spent two decades overseeing operations, supporting teams, and ensuring that every patient received the highest level of care. That same heart and professionalism now shines through in the way I care for animals.
The idea behind Pet Auntie comes from who I am at my core. I’m a wife of 20 years, a mom to an amazing 10-year-old daughter, and a lifelong animal lover. I also carry the memories of my sweet angels, my Pugs Makapuʻu and Manapua, and my cat Simba, who will forever hold pieces of my heart. Animals have been part of my life since I was little, and they’ve made me into the person I am today: gentle, nurturing, and endlessly loving toward every creature I meet.
Being around animals is where I feel the most joy. Caring for them comes naturally to me, almost like breathing. When I’m with your pet, I’m not just completing a service, I’m building a relationship. I learn their mannerisms, what makes them happy, what comforts them, and what helps them feel safe. And when my time with them comes to an end, I genuinely get emotional because I miss them (There have been many times where my husband and daughter had to comfort me!). That’s because I truly love every pet I care for as if they were my own.
As a Pet Auntie, my role goes beyond walks and visits. I provide love, care, consistency, and emotional support, the same way a trusted aunt would step in for family. I care not only for dogs, but also for cats, chickens, birds, and other small animals. Many pet parents tell me they’re surprised by how quickly their pets gravitate toward me, something I’ve been told comes from a calm, nurturing energy that animals naturally feel and trust.
